Flying Honeymoon Abroad
Flight Lieutenant Haliburton Hume Leech (R.A.F.) and Miss Ruth Janet Chernocke Elliott were married on Saturday last at All Saints' Church, Eyke, and after the reception they set off for a flying honeymoon abroad, having received special permission to take off from the Martlesham Aerodrome flying ground.
The bridegroom is the son of Dr. J. W. Leech, M.P., of Sydenham House, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and the bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Elliott, of Little Hill, Bromeswell.
The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr. A. E. Elliott, was attired in a dress of dull white crepe material, with copper sash and copper embroidery at the neck, and a tulle veil held in place by copper feathers. She carried a bouquet of lilies of the valley and white orchids.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Canon C. L. B. Elliott, assisted by the Venerable Archdeacon of Suffolk (Rev. J. G. R. Darling), and the hymns sung were "Lead us, Heavenly Father, lead us," "O God, our help in ages past," and the Psalm lxvii (67) was sung. The duties of best man were performed by Lieutenant R. C. Sewell, R.N.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at Little Hill, Bromeswell, after which the couple left for their honeymoon, the bride being attired in a rust coloured dress, with hat to match, and a silver fox fur.
